With the up and coming weather front due to be with us over the weekend and well into next week i have put a box together which compliments salads, roasts and soups all in one! We have been lucky in many of our co-op farmers having enough early crops, such as the peppers, to make the variety in the boxes perfect for this Spring sun! You will also see that there are leeks as an extra in the boxes. As i say in the newsletter they have now bolted which you will see is the large solid heart in the leek. This means they are no longer fragile like a leek usually is and also they have a much sweeter flavour. Although they are not great for a roast dinner they do make for great soup so i have put in mum’s tried and tested recipe which is great! A little bit of good news is that Sam (my sister) had a little boy this morning called Archie, weighing a little under 8lbs. Hence this is the first time i have been able to send out an email to you all undetected! No proof reading or anything so if you do find mistakes i apoligise! On a quick note the season is now in full progress and things have finally started to show signs of growing. Lots of fresh seeds going in the ground along with plants with the addition this year of yellow courgettes, Vine tomatoes, Parsley, Corriander Lettuces and the slightly more risky salad packs (easy if you have irrigation to which we don’t). Enjoy the good weather. Ben.
