Dear Nearly Nakeds

We really wanted to let you know (because these things excite us!) that we have managed to source the first great batch of English asparagus and it will be going into our boxes this weekend. We have also sourced supply for the next three weeks, assuming the quality remains good of course!

The boxes really are looking fantastic - we love this time of year! Asparagus is one of those things that we are on the look out for as soon as it is available but you have to get the timing and quality right, which we think we have....

Veg Update 10th April 2010

Leeks have really started to bulk out recently in this good weather but we are also seeing the first sign of them bolting (flowering) in the earlier varieties. (no chemicals applied).

This week there is an English round lettuce. They are very similar to Oakleaf lettuce apart from the fact that they are produced in polly tunnels. They are soft on the outside with slightly crispier leaves towards the heart. The first lettuces in the UK this year – perfect timing now the sun is shining!
